My Vacation to the Front Lines

I flew into BWI last night. The Warrior Princess and I are visiting my family in Virginia. There's a big fight going on between my mom and her sisters. One of the aunties lives here with mom. I love them both (I'm estranged from the other sister, she's a mean wack job). So I walk the balance beam, careful not to make either mad. Doesn't this sound like fun? People always want to know why I live so far away. Hahaha, I'm smart that's why. Actually it will be fun to visit with my sibs and to jump on the metro and see D.C. with WP.
We will make the very best of it.

Family!!

Have fun running around DC. I hope it's not too hot and humid. (I'm guessing it is though!)

Doesn't every family have a psycho wack job? My sister in law is one and we are close-am I dumb? I walk the balance beam also, and I feel your pain. Hope all goes well. Take pictures and hang in there.

Hi Claire. It's much better to be able to choose family. Too bad you are not closer, I'd love to meet you someday.

YAY! You are on a trip!! :) I moved as far away as I could get from my family, as soon as I could. We have a cousin, that we call an ex-cousin, who has been harassing me and other family members for the past 4 years by phone and email.

Have a great time; will you be there for the 4th of July?

The only nasty member of my family is my sister - and the only card carrying Christian, too.

I love the rest to bits, so I guess I'm really lucky.

tess- yes it is! And I drove thru a horrible storm today on the way back from visiting my brother.

wreckless- it seems to me that is true. My hubby came from Ozzy and Harriet land but his brother married a psycho wack job (now divorced!)

rose- Oh yes, I'd love to have a meet up with you. Maybe someday...(like when my kids are out of college!)

jojo- yes we will be here till the 7th of july. I'm dividing my time and so far so good.

kris- we will do our best. WP is a formidable companion thank god!

val- well if she's nasty, she's not much of a Christian!

Oh boy, there is nothing as prickly as being caught between two warring relatives, I wish you luck on that one! Hope you escape off with the sibs as often as you can.. have fun. (Smile)

"Good luck" on the family vacation. I'm sure you'll make the most of it and enjoy because you are smart!

Enjoy the good parts and forget the bad.

Wow. You wrote a paragraph, and the family politics in it left me exhausted.

Not that I'm being superior. Sounds a lot like my clan.

Thanks Ladies and Diesel! Mom is acting like a 5 year old and auntie is on her best behavior (so far).
My sister's SO asked her to marry him, that was cool. WP and I have made many forays into the city and we are having fun together.

Oh, isn't family wonderful! I despise mine, personally. I've made my own family, because I like to improve on things that bug me!!!

SURVIVE!! I just came back from visiting my parents and am heading off to visit my brother and his family - negotiating the family psychology seems to be a fact of life!

There is one word that comes to mind when I look at that map: CONGESTION.

I like simple areas like Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Washington. They are just there, doing their big, 'ole wide area thing.

But family, no matter where, is its own wide area of comfort and belonging. Have fun!

P.S. My parents will be here from California tonight. I love them dearly. But.....four whole days? Together? Exclusively? Gulp.

Hey! I have one of these, too.
